The Silicon Mountain Group, a network of technology
professionals who live and work in the Tahoe/Truckee area, is pleased to
welcome Linda and
Patrick Grimes, Founders EduLock who discuss the
concept of “learn to earn - in life and school.”
As Patrick Grimes
explains “We are concerned parents hoping to provide a new alternative to
managing electronic media devices so the technology can be embraced as positive
instrument of advancement in day-to-day lives. What started out as a
simple concept to intercept text messages with math problems has evolved into a
whole new approach to learning and media device usage.
The new approach
uses some of the most well-documented principles of operant conditioning as
well as the brains reward activity center.
Our timing
couldn't be any better because the American Academy of Pediatricians issued a
statement (earlier in November) that parents should place their children
"media" diets and doctors should begin recording media usage at
regular visits.”
More information about this exciting new approach can be found
at www.edulock.org.
The meeting
will be on Monday, December 9, 6-8 pm at the Pizza on the Hill in Tahoe Donner
at 11509 Northwoods Blvd, Truckee. A $5
fee includes pizza and soft drinks. Before and after the discussion, there will
be time for networking with other technology people who live and work in the
Tahoe-Truckee region.
This
month’s event is co-sponsored by New Leaders (NewLeaders.com) and Clear Capital (ClearCapital.com). You can find the “Silicon Mountain” group on LinkedIn and
Facebook.
