We are pleased to welcome Veronica Cannon to present: “From Code Bootcamp to a
Software Engineering Job.”
Programming bootcamps are like
trade schools for the digital age. These
2-6 month intensive programs are designed to take the new or beginner
programmer to job-ready in a short amount of time.
Veronica Cannon, a full stack Ruby
on Rails engineer and director of Woman Who Code Reno Tahoe, will be sharing
her experiences from Hackbright Academy, a coding bootcamp in San Francisco,
and discussing how code school graduates can move into roles as software
engineers and continue to grow their careers.
While these bootcamps can quickly
make attendees into candidates for high-paying entry level jobs, many companies
that employ bootcamp graduates don’t yet have well-established paths for these junior
engineers to progress to more senior positions. Others feel the short bootcamp
programs aren’t enough experience. Cannon will discuss how she sees the path to
success for bootcamp graduates and employers.
