Tahoe Pitch Showcase is Back
November 14th at 6 pm
Six entrepreneurs who participated in Tahoe Pitch Camp this Fall were selected to present their innovative companies and ideas at the Tahoe Pitch Showcase during 5-minute pitches. Entrepreneurs selected to present their pitches are as follows:

Each entrepreneur will take questions from our expert panel of judges: Megan Bristol, Jamie Orr, and Mark Zimring. The event will conclude with voting and a winner in each category will be chosen by the judges....and there is a People's Choice, selected by YOU.

Tahoe Silicon Mountain and Sierra Business Council are announcing the return of Pitch Camp and Pitch Showcase.
Tahoe Pitch Camp is designed for entrepreneurs to hone their skills, learn about successful pitch techniques, and craft a winning pitch.
Taught by SBC’s Kristin York and other seasoned mentors in collaboration with Tahoe Silicon Mountain, participants will hone their presentation skills and information into a five minute presentation, referred to as a pitch, identifying their value proposition and their organization’s capital needs.
Pitch Camp meets October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd from 5-7pm at SBC’s Office: 10183 Truckee Airport Rd.
Entrepreneurs at any stage, startups, founders, and established businesses are all welcome to apply for Tahoe Pitch Camp. In addition to the classes, entrepreneurs are encouraged to take advantage of free one-on-one consulting with SBC’s Sierra Small Business Development Center staff.

It’s the “Networking Summer.” After two over years of virtual meetings, Tahoe Silicon Mountain will get back face-to-face for a series of networking events over the summer.
The Caldor and Dixie fires of the Summer of 2021, have made the residents of the Tahoe region keenly aware of the need for real time incident response. Many times, in an emergency situation the status is monitored by white boards at a command site. Tablet Command is a real time digital tool for incident command which was used during the Caldor fire, the Dixie fire, and several other large fires over the past few seasons. On Monday, May 9th, at 5pm please join Tahoe Silicon Mountain, a local network of entrepreneurs and professionals, to hear the story of Tablet Command. How it originated and has grown into a tool that is being used by multiple emergency response agencies in California.
Will Pigeon and Andy Bozzo will present on how Tablet Command came to be and the advantages of using a digital system over pens and paper. They will review how the platform enables the command center to develop emergency response strategies based upon current maps, create check lists of critical tasks, and enables custom configuration depending upon the organization’s requirements.

Will Pigeon began in the fire service in 1998 as a full-time firefighter while pursuing a degree in Information Systems from San Diego State University. He has worked in the San Diego region as a firefighter, paramedic, fire dispatcher, and flight rescue medic. He began his career with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District in 2005, leaving at the end of 2020 as an Assistant Fire Chief. While at Contra Costa County Fire, Pigeon oversaw the Communications Division of the Fire District, including the 911 Center, Radio, Telecomm, and Information Technology. Pigeon is passionate about fire communications systems, computer networking, database, integration systems, computer programming, and bringing functional mobile technology to the fire service industry. He represents an unusual mix of fire service insight and technological expertise.
On Feb 14th, 1847 a group of 7 rescuers set out from Johnson’s Ranch near Wheatland CA, to rescue the Donner Party trapped at Donner Lake. On Monday February 14th, 2022 four ultra-distance runners set out in an attempt to recreate the route the rescuers used to reach the Donner Party and to honor the heroes who saved their fellow pioneers. On Monday, March 14th, at 5pm please join Tahoe Silicon Mountain, a local network of entrepreneurs and professionals, to hear the story of these 4 adventurers and historic trail trekkers. Bob Crowley, Tim Twietmeyer, Jennifer Hemmen and Elke Reimer as they traveled roughly 100 miles from Johnsons Ranch to Donner Lake in 5 days.
The Team will discuss the research and findings that went into determining the rescue route, as well as the challenges of the journey itself.
In a previous statement in the Sierra Sun, Crowley said “The project is about the will to survive and bring back those left behind. Our team will honor the grit determination and selflessness of the 7 rescue members. It is about people risking their lives to save others.”

Bios
Bob Crowley is an amateur ultra-distance runner and historian with an appreciation for American Western history and epic adventure tales. He is endeavoring to combine all these passions to help bring history to life, coined History Trail Trekking.
Crowley’s passion extends to his athletic hobbies, most notably ultra-running. He’s completed more than 200 endurance events, including Western States and Hardrock 100 mile endurance runs, several 200+ mile mountain runs as well as the famed Tor des Geants in the Italian Alps and numerous self-directed wilderness adventures. He led and grew the Trail Animals Running Club , the largest trail running club in the country.
Tim Twietmeyer is an ultra-distance runner and an engineering manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, in Roseville, Ca. He is best known for his five victories and unprecedented 25 sub-24-hour finishes at the 100-mile (160 km) Western States Endurance Run . He has also qualified and participated as an age-grouper (50+) at the Ironman World Championships in Kona.
Twietmeyer has served more than 20 years on the board of trustees and is a current vice president of the Western States Endurance Run Foundation.
Beyond his WS100 exploits, Twietmeyer has won the Eagle 100-mile (160 km) Run in Canada, and completed the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc through France, Italy, and Switzerland. He has completed more than 200 marathon and ultra-distance races.
Outside formal competition, in 2004 Twietmeyer led the first “winter crossing” of the Western States Trail, following the trail from Squaw Valley to Auburn as did many of the gold miners back in the day. He followed that in 2006, becoming the initial Fastest Known Time setter for the 168-mile Tahoe Rim Trail, arriving back in Tahoe City in 45:58. In 2008, following in the spirit of the 4-day Capitol-to-Capitol horse ride, Tim ran from Carson City, Nevada to Sacramento, California in 43:30.
Dave DePuy will present how a relatively recent full time resident to Truckee can bring their Silicon Valley experience to local needs.
Dave joined a few local historical societies in 2018 to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad in 2019. This experience led to a footing for helping with the creation of the new Museum of Truckee History (MoTH).
Dave used his technical experience to assist with museum design decisions. He became the primary creator of two of the museum's exhibits.
Dave will also speak to why the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics were important to Truckee and how they influenced the Olympics of this year.

Paul D. Miller, aka DJ Spooky, is a composer, multimedia artist, and writer whose work immerses audiences in a blend of genres, global culture, and environmental and social issues will address Tahoe Silicon Mountain. Paul D. Miller is the Artist in Residence at Yale’s Quantum Institute. He is in the middle of an art initiative at Yale that connects quantum physics, music, and visual arts. He is also a National Geographic Explorer who has created artworks based on his expeditions to Antarctica, the Arctic Circle and other remote locales.
Miller has collaborated with an array of recording artists, including Metallica, Chuck D, Steve Reich, and Yoko Ono. His 2018 album, DJ Spooky Presents: Phantom Dancehall, debuted at #3 on Billboard Reggae.
His large-scale, multimedia performance pieces include “Rebirth of a Nation,” Terra Nova: Sinfonia Antarctica, commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Seoul Counterpoint, written during his 2014 residency at Seoul Institute of the Arts. His multimedia project Sonic Web premiered at San Francisco’s Internet Archive in 2019. He was the inaugural artist-in-residency at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s The Met Reframed, 2012-2013.
In 2014, he was named National Geographic Emerging Explorer. He produced Pioneers of African American Cinema, a collection of the earliest films made by African American directors, released in 2015.
His books include the award-winning Rhythm Science, published by MIT Press in 2004; Sound Unbound, an anthology about digital music and media; The Book of Ice, a visual and acoustic portrait of the Antarctic, and; The Imaginary App, on how apps changed the world. His writing has been published by The Village Voice, The Source, and Artforum, and he was the first founding Executive Editor of Origin Magazine.
